I realize they think that things like this need to be secret, but I think even I would have seen the problems that would arise with this stunt.
Apparently they did alert all the local authorities about it, but it was still stupid. Especially for something so silly as a photo op. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I hate these type of equivalencies but there’s not doubt that if this was the Bush White House that did this I would have a fit about it so…..just dumb.
Wow. Agreed. The height of stupidity. I mean, it’s the NYPD dropped the ball by keeping it to themselves… but who the fuck thought a photo-op of a giant passenger jet escorted by military craft over the southern part of Manhattan was a GOOD idea?
I gathered they were supposed to keep it quiet, to, you know, keep all those angry New Yorkers with surface to air missiles in the dark.
The NYPD put out a statement saying they were precluded from telling the public under penalty of federal law. But yeah, all around just dumb. The mayor’s underlings even knew but neglected to tell bloomberg.
Guess its another several years of therapy for the thousands of people in lower Manhattan with PTSD from 9/11.
