Wow, that was pretty disturbing, even as an experiment.

I saw some other journalist do this a few months ago. All he kept repeating after the experiment was that “It’s doesn’t feel like you’re being drowned, you ARE being drowned”. I think I can safely say that I’d speak just looking at the setup. Drowning is one of my biggest fears.

…i’d like to know what part of that isn’t torture.

Paul Begala made the best point this week and totally shut up Ari Fleischer when he asked why, if it isn’t torture and shouldn’t be illegal then why did the US imprison and/or execute Japanese soldiers who did this to American’s.

Oh, but wait…I’m sorry…again some douchebag who watched too many episodes of 24 and never served a day in the military knows better than actual military and intelligence personnel who’ve studied and lived this issue.

Also, I wish people would stop talking about just waterboarding as though that’s the only thing we did. We did a fuck of a lot worse including beating people in our custody to death to the point where their bones were liquified. Waterboarding allows the idiots on the right to keep this debate in the “Well, it’s not torture…..it doesn’t kill people or do any long term physical damage.” as though that’s the standard we should reduce ourselves to.
