I just saw something, on digg.com, that said tuna could be wiped out by 2012.
Just bluefin, but yeah. Horrifying.
We never replenish the resources we pull from the sea. The tuna you typically eat are around 30 years old; they’re not exactly as renewable a resource as we think.
Again, the case of the orange ruffie: a species of fish sold for $9.99 a pound… despite the typical age of the fish being around 100 years old. So… you overfish a fish that took 100 years to grow? Talk about wiping out species on a whim.
