Gross? Sure, especially with some of the food-related stories. But with the applaiances being found and re-used, I am all for that. Heck, if there is a good couch or bookshelf on someones curb, I am all for it. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

I would guess that there’s a little more to this than simply opening up bags of refuse all mixed in together. I’m sure some of the stuff being discarded due to code dates and what have you are more organized and maintained when discarded rather than just thrown in with egg shells and damp coffee grinds and what have you.
not gross at all. pristine items are thrown out all the time. if i had the time and dedication, i’d probably try this. in fact, i’m thinking of heading up to the UPenn campus on move-out day in May/June. those rich kids throw out a ton of good stuff.
Mandy, that sounds like a fun event. See if you can find out what date is move-out day. I’d love to attend.
Definitely not gross. Though I haven’t met a freegan who wasn’t incredibly haughty and annoying.
