No doubt the game looks amazing. If it is anything like FFX-2 or FFXII, then we will be a dissapointed bunch.

If the game is like 7 or 10 then we will be happy.

Is it coming out for PS3 only or 360? I read somewhere Microsoft got the rights to the FF series, but don’t know if that is fact.

In a related note, has anyone played the new Star Ocean? If anybody has, do you hate the lack of save points? I certainley do.

I really enjoyed XII. Honestly, though, I was hoping for a bit of an evolution from the turn-based fighting system of previous final fantasies. I was also hoping for a bit more game and a bit less CGI anime movie, but who am I kidding?

And nope, haven’t played Star Ocean. Any good?

I think it looks pretty. There’s something mindless about the FF games that I enjoy… you don’t have to try very hard, you get dazzled by pretty, and the numbers tick upwards steadily without much of a struggle. I liked XII and I think that puts me in the minority. I kinda think VII is sorta lame, too.

It’s supposed to come out for Xbox360. But there’s some spin-off game from it that remains PS3 exclusive, I think. This is good, since I’m thinking of picking up an Xbox to compensate for the increasingly awful and disappointing Wii.

Star Ocean is pretty cool. If you ignore the 20-30 minutes cut scenes, the 20-30 minute boss fights (shorter if you find the weak point, longer if you don’t), the lack of save points (really annoying when after an hour of crawling through a dungeon, something comes up and you have to quit with nary a SP in sight) and the bad dialouge and cliches for anime characters (cat girl, annoying pre-teen, cold hard steel robot-dude, loner bad-ass) and the targeting system.

If you can get by all of that, the worlds look great. The cutscenes are beautiful and well worth the 20-30 minutes that it takes to get through them. I like the fighting system and if you are a power-gamer it is relatively easy to level up.

Oh, and from what I have read the final boss fight takes a good hour to do so clear your calender.

Basically try at your own risk. It is hard for me to allot time to the game right now with a newborn in the house but on weekend nights I rock it out.

Wisdom

You may ask yourself “what is that beautiful house?” You may ask yourself “Where does that highway go to?” And you may ask yourself “Am I right? Am I wrong?” And you may say to yourself "MY GOD! WHAT HAVE I DONE?
