Beers Wars Movie
Think all those fancy craft beers at the store are made by microbreweries, think again.

I couldn’t view the videos on this site here at work, so I’m not exactly sure what “micros” they are outing with this film, but the guy does seem to be asking the right questions. “How is a consumer supposed to know what’s a “real” craft beer. Is it the type of beer? Or the brewer that matters?” In my opinion, the brewer doesn’t matter at all unless they are constrained by corporate policy, which is something that is becoming less prevalent now that the “real” craft beers are gaining popularity. The big corporate brewers are recognizing that not everyone wants a mild, watered down beer (which shouldn’t be misread as cheap, shitty beer), and they’re reacting accordingly.
The story behind Blue Moon is actually pretty cool. The execs at Coors wanted to capitalize on the growing popularity of Belgian style wheats, so they actually sent a guy to Belgium to study how they are made and he came back and created the recipe. They ended up with a good beer because they didn’t just half ass it and slap a quirky looking label on some lame knockoff attempt.

I won’t go so far as to say “most”, but there are definitely a ton of gross craft beers out there. That said, I think that’s actually a good thing, because the flexibility that the little guys have allows them to experiment with weird flavors that the big guys would never be able to justify, which is why you are more likely to find something that suits you perfectly on a craft shelf than from one of the mega-brewers.
