A Different Kind Of Concert
I have two tickets for a show in New York City for tonight. It is part of the Wordless Music Series and is located at the New York Society For Ethical Culture.
The line-up is:
The Mountain Goats
John Vanderslice
Miranda Cuckson, violin
Reiko Uchida, piano
(The latter pair performing music for piano and violin by Franz Schubert and Francis Poulenc apparently)
Anyway, I asked Sammy to go a while ago when I first got the tickets. He can’t make it. So I have a spare ticket now. I’ll be going into New York via NJ PATH as soon as I finish watching 4-year-olds after school.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. and hopefully doesn’t go too late. I have other plans for a goodbye party at Karaoke Top Tunes in New York as well. I’d like to make an appearance, and whoever you are, you’re more than welcome to tag along with me. If you don’t want to, that’s fine too!
If you would like some assistance/advice for getting to the place, just ask. I figure we can meet outside the venue, unless you’d prefer to come to my apartment in Jersey City at around 6:30 or so.

yeah i didn’t find out about this until way too late. i hope it is as awesome as it sounds! have many funs!
(true story, several years ago i went to a vanderslice/mountain goats show, watched john vanderslice, and left because i had a huuuuuuuuge project due the next day that i wasn’t quite finished; STILL have not managed to see the mountain goats after all this time, and suffer crushing regrets)
Hey J-man. I am going for the 2nd part of my root canal procedure today so I am anticipating another evening where I’m out of commission or else I would definitely check this out with you.
I saw John Vanderslice with Beulah several years ago. I am not a fan of his recordings at all but I remember his voice being pitch perfect live and just standing there astounded at how amazing it sounded. I haven’t heard any of his newer stuff. Is it any good?
