John is hungry

Three plants that will grow your own fresh air.

Another amazing TED talk, though it seems like a lot of care…

Wow. So he mentioned how many plants are needed per person. Do you think you could do a combo of the three per person?

I think that’s how many of each you’d need to “live in a bottle,” as he put it. And with that in mind, I don’t think having only one or two will have a negative effect.

Yea, I’m going get these plants for sure, but I definitely didn’t feel comfortable having a dozen plants in my apartment. There would simply be no room. I’m thinking one of each. Maybe two of the Mother-in-Law’s Tongues ‘cause I like the idea of fresh air while I sleep (I know I’ll be in my apartment that whole time).

This was pretty much my exact train of thought. I might actually hit up home depot’s garden center on the way home.

So okay, what’s the idea here? Water once a day and be sure to give ’em some sunlight once a day as well?

…or do I really have to practice some hydroponics for the best effect here?

Not a clue. I bought two Mother-In-Law’s-Tongue plants today. The card claims they require very little care or attention. Just a bit of water now and again. I will, of course, be doing a great deal more research.

I also got that plant, a.k.a. the snake plant. Apparently they most often die from rotting due to overwatering.
