for those interested, the Rosenbach Museum right here in Philly has a whole area dedicated to Maurice Sendak. I think I remember them saying on the tour that Sendak actually left all his stuff to them to keep this sort of mini-museum to his work. It’s pretty awesome. Rosenbach.

I’m trying to think of how I would react to this if I didn’t know the story. I would probably worry that it had something to do with that weird furry fetish. That coupled with a little kid could be a very bad thing.
Arcade Fire fit perfectly. the last few scenes looked so low-budget on locations, like they used a backyard or something. i like it!
I never really read the book as a kid so I don’t have much emotional connection to this either way, but I am glad to see that at least it doesn’t look all crappy CGI. I’d rather any kids movie be low budget and heartfelt than all whiz bang technical and devoid of any soul.
