you obviously have never played:
little big planet
warhawk
metal gear solid
call of duty 5 (the nazi zombie mode alone is worth it)
fallout 3
mirrors edge
yes i know some of these are also on xbox, but the point is that fun can be had on a ps3. listing metal gear is a little unfair since i also havent played it, though ive owned it for a year, but graphically its looked amazing.
plus: blu ray player sucka!
we have a Wii and a PS3 and love them both. i haven’t gotten into Little Blue Planet because i feel like though i don’t have ADD now, that game would make me get it. it just didn’t look appealing, and i have no idea why.
i just got Fallout 3 and can’t wait to play it.
i tried playing Left 4 Dead on PC (a couple of times) and sorry, L4D people, after years of tv-based video games, i fucking hate PC controls.
and Blu Ray player, fo’ serious.

Warhawk sucks. Metal Gear Solid sucks. Call of Duty and Fallout 3 are PC games. Mirrors Edge makes me sick.
Blu Ray player is the only real reason to own one.
i dont understand the call of duty and fall out 3 are pc games thing.
also i think your wrong on all other accounts up there.
We have the Wii, Xbox360, and PS3. PS3 gets used mostly for blu ray movies, but matt does download some trailers and things. XBox is mostly Matt playing video games, demos, trailers, etc. and Wii is mostly me.. because well I suck at video games and Lego Batman/Indiana Jones/Star Wars on “invincible” are totally do-able for me. I was hoping more cool games would come out utilizing the WiiFit, but so far have been disappointed. I have a feeling I would have fun with Little Big Planet since it’s just a quirky platformer, and we do have it, but I don’t think either of us have really played it.
Derrick said:also i totally agree with mandy on not being able to get into pc games. part of it is the controller aspect, the other part is just the comfort thing. gaming at a desk sucks.
like watching movies at a desk. i enjoy my most excellent couch for such things. hell, it’s a reason i bought a laptop.
i find that ill almost always get two discs a month because i either wont have time to run through that many, or will forget. but their bluray selection is way bigger than blockbusters, so i stay with netflix anyway.
the ondemand i use more often. its good for movies, but the selection is usually older stuff, which is good because there are a lot of classics im always trying to catch up on, but they will occassionally have some good new stuff too bue to their partnering with starz. what i find the ondemand best for is tv shows. they offer a lot of full seasons on there, so im able to catch up on a series within a week or so by watching a couple of episodes before i go to bed.
What I mean by PC Games is that they were released on the PC first and were ported to PS3. I prefer PC to console for anything involving shooting because a gamepad is the worst possible interface for aiming a gun. You absolutely need a mouse. I also prefer PC games because they get updates and mods.
As for the netflix discussion, I definitely don’t watch enough movies to make it worthwhile, but the on-demand is nice and handbraking movies to my machine and returning them unwatched makes it feel worthwhile.
i think the aiming thing is achieved through practice. also, many ps3 games are updated through the system, warhawk has seen atleast three expansion packs since its release a little over a year ago, along with regular free updates that have added features.
i agree with you handbrake thing, which i also do, and then via usb drive, move the films to my ps3 for a cool ondemand movie list on the harddrive (ps3 wins again).
plus, it has free online play.
ill give you that the other systems do have more games, and more variety in style of games. in fact my only complaint so far is that 90% of what i own is a first person shooter, and normally they are not my style, but for some reason i am finding them more entertaining. im more of an rpg guy, and am awaiting the release of ff13. im assuming that the ps3 will eventually catch up, but in the meantime i am enjoying its other features and think its a great addition to the home theater system.
by the way, i am involved in one pc game, lord of the rings online? been playing it on the mac, and have abandoned using a mouse in favor of a wacom drawing pad. it took awhile to get used to but its pretty cool. id like to attempt a shooter that way, just to see if my aim is more precise with the pen.

as far as updates and mods Xbox gets them, too. i am assuming either now or at some point, so will the PS3 being that they’re all online now.
i might rejoin netflix just to watch tv shows online. and if i am gonna be traveling for work at some point, i know i’ll need something to kill hotel room boredeom.
PC does get better mods and level editing software. I will give it that. But the cost of getting a PC to continue to be a competitive gaming machine outweighs the benefits, for me. You spend $400 on a system, you know you can play anything that comes out on that system for the next five years. Not so with PC – I had to get a new video card to play the friggin’ WoW expansion, and my PC is only a year old.
Of course, I have every stupid console, and every stupid handheld, and love them all basically equally, despite their faults. But that doesn’t change the fact that the Wii is essentially two Gamecubes strapped together with an accelerometer jammed in the controller, so you can wave it around like a wand while you play Imagine: Princess Baby Party Time.
