This Is Wiidiculous

Every time I open my wallet, I see my GameStop gift cards. I want to spend them SO badly, but I’ve been patient. I realized though, what is Nintendo waiting for? I could really use a new game. Animal Crossing has been great – as a goddamn coaster. Anyone hear/read anything?

Maybe the new Futurama movie is sold by GameStop. That comes out straight-to-DVD today! It’s the last of the four.

Animal Crossing sucks. I was amused by it the first couple times, but once I realized that I’d pretty much seen it all within the first five hours of play, it quickly began to gather dust. I need to sell it or give it away.

If you don’t own Boom Blox, you should. It’s awesome. You really, really should own that. I play that with friends every time they come over.

Animal Crossing, in the end, was really disappointing solely because we’ve all already played it. I’d imagine if it was our first time playing it, like with the gamecube, we’d all still be obsessing.

I’d say buy some Wii Cards to get some virtual console games.

It was my first encounter with Animal Crossing and I still think it sucked. Plus, the idea of visiting the virtual city during important holidays and on Saturday nights just annoyed me… why should I be at home, playing a videogame, at those times?

Isn’t Saturday night prime time for video game players?

Picked up this great game used at gamestop for like 12 bucks – I’m not sure how old it was, but it’s got like 20 old NeoGeo games:

http://product.half.ebay.com/SNK-Arcade-Classics-Volume-1_W0QQtgZinfoQQprZ65588434

it’s fun in a nostalgia-kind of way. They’re all pretty short as the arcade games were, but a good time. Plus if you pick it up used, it’ll cost WAY less than getting them all off the wii virtual console.

Both great ideas. I’m also looking into that Link’s Crossbow game. Anyone get into that?

Nick got that, and I played it for a while. It’s gimmicky and gets old fast. It’ll entertain for a short while, but then you will put away the stupid gun caddy and look for something better. I don’t have a Wii yet, and I don’t know the entire Wii console library, but if they have Actraiser or UN Squadron, you should get those.

Or Turtles in Time.

Actraiser is on the Virtual Console and it’s just as amazing as I remembered.

Also, I’ve been really craving some Secret of Mana. I may have to buy that.

Oh Secret of Mana! My two friends, Nick and DePalma, along with myself have a Christmas tradition where we get together for a weekend and beat that game. It has Santa in it, that’s why it’s fitting!

I always associate that game with Christmas as well. Same with Final Fantasy VII. I suspect this is because I tend to get these games for Christmas and then I’d spend the rest of my break indoors playing it.

There is a store in Blackwook (on Blackwood-Clementon road) called Next Level Games. They only deal in old school stuff like NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Genesis, Atari, et. al.

I go there every Friday and buy 3 or 4 games at a clip. It’s sad, but I love it. I bought Super Mario RPG, UN Squadron, Turtles in Time, and Dragon Warrior last week. It was wonderful.

How competitive are there prices compared to what you can find on e-bay? Those are 4 games that can pull quite a bit of money.

And Kev, seriously? I never would have suspected that game was actually any good.

Also, I just grabbed Secret of Mana last night and already got the first two elementals. All I want to do is go home and play more.

I got UN Squadron, Turtles, and Dragon warrior for less than 10 a piece. SMRPG was 30.

yup, its a fun game. I don’t see myself playing for hours at a time, but then again I’m not that type of gamer to begin with. You’ll play it soon enough john, soon enough.

They’re not all as scary as Resident Evil 4.

Elebits convinced me that it’s possible for other companies to do interesting things with the platform.

I thought Elebits was boring. I bought it, and have since regretted the move. I think I traded it back.

Yeah, I’m the guy who doesn’t dig Elebits. This is why I’m afraid Boom Blox might disappoint me.

As the resident GameStop employee, allow me to recommend the motion-control-augmented re-release of Pikmin, out tomorrow. That’s probably going to be the best thing on the Wii for a while, at least for people who can buy cigarettes.
Oh! And MadWorld is out this week! I almost forgot – that one actually looks intriguing, if they tightened the controls.

The original Pikmin? If you’ve already played and beaten it, is there any reason to play it again?

They are doing a motion-control-augmented re-release of Mario Tennis as well. Now that could be good.

Nope, same as Pikmin was the first time. But if you haven’t played Pikmin, it’s good. The tennis should sell like crack, too, and I imagine the controls’ll be tight.

Wisdom

A possible redeeming use for this truly idiotic video would be to demonstrate tricks con-artists use in constructing faulty arguments, including begging the question (assuming something is true when it has not been proven so) and the argument ad hominem (appealing to emotion so as to lead away from the truth). I hope that there are enough intelligent parents and teachers out there who can explain to their kids why the FOX moon hoax special and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon” are exercises in deception, absurd arguments, and misleading claims masquerading as facts.
