I was the same way about maple syrup until my late 20’s when for some reason I started enjoying it. However, an amazing, well made pancake or waffle or french toast can be just as good without syrup and just some butter.
IHOP has this stuffed french toast that is both ridiculously bad and ridiculously awful at the same time. Although if I didn’t have kids I’d probably never actually eat there.
Make some of your own syrup that you know you’ll like!
Maybe some honey syrup? Or a fruit-based one? You could always go with the old stand-by, Old Bay.
By the way, I’d like to figure out the perfect ratio of mayonnaise and Old Bay, and then just always have a jar of it available. I would call it Old Bayo.

yeah, but would you want to waste that delicious blis maple syrup on something you don’t really even like?
also, if you’re ever in pittsburgh and you don’t like the pancakes at pamela’s, then there really is no hope for you. even our president agrees…!
“Before I answer this question, these really were maybe the best pancakes I’ve tasted in a very long time. Get some take-out,” he directed the reporters. “You don’t even need syrup on them. They’ve got [these] crispy edges. Yea, they are really good.”
John said:this is exactly like bill being all “i hate salad” when it’s really just that he can’t eat salad dressing.I’ve never really liked pancakes… mostly because I never really liked maple syrup. If I could get my hands on that Blis maple syrup Luke uses, I think I could like pancakes.
i prefer pancakes and waffles dry or buttered. not a huge syrup fan.
