Metallica's Blackened + Bass
As you probably know if you are or were at any point a Metallica fan, Metallica turned Jason Newstead’s bass way the hell down in the mix on the entire …And Justice for All album. Well, someone grabbed the separate tracks from Rock Band and re-mixed the song with proper bass. The result is just awesome. I’d love to get a higher quality version of this if anyone finds one.

That whole deal was one of the factors in me finally saying “fuck it” and giving up on that band and why I never bothered with And Justice despite my obsessive love of the first 3 records. I was super psyched that they had hired him since his previous band was phenomenal as well. Then when I heard stuff off that album I realized they fucked up a good thing. Turns out it would only get worse.
ooooooOooo! BILL! When you listen, verify that it’s actually remixed (from Rock Band?) and not just remastered. THere’s a lot of recordings out there that just boost all the bass frequencies and, yeah, you can hear Newstead better, but it also makes the guitars and drums too bassy.
It could also be the recording I’ve heard about where some dude re-recorded all of Newstead’s bass.
Either way… upload to FTP?
There are bigger crimes on that LP,ladies and gentlemen i give you ….Lars Ulrichs’ ridiculous drum sound. I love Metallica but that drum sound wrecks it for me.As for the bass,it’s now way too loud.Only Funkadelic and James Brown can rock nice loud bass. As a bass player for 20 years it sounds like overkill. There’s gotta be a happy medium. Plus, Jason Newstead was in Flotsam And Jetsam and they were beyond terrible.
