A stimulus plan I can get behind

The thing is that if you took out the tax cuts, the stimulus package would be made up of stuff mostly like this, and more. And it’s the kind of stuff that would create jobs, etc. But since the republicans insist on $350 billion of tax cuts which have been proven to do zero to stimulate the economy (see the last 8 years for evidence, and more specifically the tax rebates from last year) the overall tab is much higher than it needs to be. This notion that the bulk projects and targeted infrastructure work in the bill that passed the house is “pork” is ridiculous. Building a road creates jobs…..increasing school funding creates jobs…even the seemingly silly crap creates jobs.

The way these blue dog “centrist” assholes are using this whole catastrophe as the chance for some free press is galling to me. Especially after they were the ones that o.k.’ed every last ridiculous bit of non-stimulative tens of billions in spending over the past 8 years by bending over for Bush.

About The Scrabbled

The Scrabbled is a group of people blogging about and linking to all manner of things. Usually we argue and make fun of each other. Everybody knows everybody through somebody so there are no strangers here. Most of us have even met in real life! If you happen to personally know someone here and would like to start arguing with and/or making fun of someone, shoot John an email and ask to sign up. Otherwise, you're just going to have to read in relative silence. Sorry.
