Printing Advice

I’m not exactly sure who on theScrabbled can help me with this. But I know someone here definitely can.

I was just wondering what the entire process would be to get a card (think Happy Birthday, Get Well Soon, etc.) that I design in bulk print.

What programs do you suggest to design the layout? Photoshop I assume? Where do I get it printed? Submit the file online to a company? What format is standard for card design?

I got our wedding invites printed through a company at work via Heidi. I wanted fancy folds so I had to go through a special print company. I designed them myself in Photoshop and sent the PSDs.

The programs and thank you cards, however, I designed in Photoshop and got printed at Kinko’s. They don’t score paper for folds there so some of the folds were a bit crinkly, but no biggie.

Just get your envelope size, create a photoshop doc of that size (with at least 300dpi), create your card, and go get a test print at Kinkos. You can email ‘em the PSD or PDF, but I recommend just walking it in. You may have to use PDF if you’re using special fonts, but they’ll let you know. PSD is the way to go if possible.

it depends on how many you want to do, too. cause you can just buy cards from michaels or wherever, make a photoshop document the right size, and go to town. (i used to do that.)
