Well that was fucking awesome. Totally unexpected, based on your description as
a.) I find no resemblance to Regina Spektor aside from the requisite vagina and
b.) Regina’s newest album was way too radio-sheen poppy bullshit.
This was just fucking kick-ass.
Also, thank you for giving me things to disagree with you about so I could safely agree with you about the awesomeness of that song.

I think the Regina Spektor resemblance ends after the first verse when the song starts to kick ass. I love the little guitar scale breakdown thing, and the screamy “OH MY GOD!” at 2:18 is so, so awesome.
Funny you should mention her (them?) I saw them linked somewhere else and checked it out and got her record and it’s awesome. I meant to post something a while back but figured I would be late to the game with it. It’s definitely much more garagey punky type stuff than Regina Spektor though. I also heard her described as a female Jack White, but I don’t see that either.
just thought of this today and wanna bump it because this song is incredible. it’s like if nico was alive and made music for the aughts.
i remember listening to this very loudly through center city in hutch’s car after having dinner at that awful chinese restaurant for his birthday last year. (awful because the cold jellyfish made me sick).
and jonathan didn’t like it? oh jon, i beg to differ. this would have definitely been in the repertoire for a 7 glenwood basement dance party along with “heartbeats.” and still can be!
