how many homeless people are there in new jersey?

every two years, a state survey is done to see how many homeless people there are in the state of new jersey. they go by county, and visit local homeless shelters and agencies. some of the bigger police departments get involved. i’m doing a story on this today.
the u.s. department of housing and urban development mandates this survey. without googling it, how many homeless men, women and children do you think there are in new jersey?

Wow, there are 8,729 square miles in New Jersey, so that’s 1.95 homeless people per square mile.
