Death and Taxes
Well, not taxes as much as annual income. ESPN has this salary calculator which takes your annual income and compares it to the annual salaries of the highest paid baseball players, and lets you know how long you would have to work to make what these guys make in a year.
For example – I would have to work (at my current annual salary) 450 years to make what Mark Texiera makes in a year. He makes what I make in a year every 1.28 at-bats. Just to put that in perspective, simply by WALKING TO THE PLATE TWICE a night, he makes more than I do in an entire year. Seems kind of unfair somehow.
And now in the death category – Majel Barrett, wife of Gene Roddenberry; portrayer of Nurse Chapel and Luwaxanna Troi; voice of the enterprise computer for every star trek series and movie, has passed beyond this world to one of dirt and worms. So sad.

Oh man you just broke my heart. CC Sabathia will make my annual salary by throwing just over 1/4 of a strikeout. So CC Sabathia doesn’t even have to throw a strike, but rather a fraction of a strike, to outearn me. Brilliant.

Sucks to hear about Majel. I wonder if Spike will air one of her episodes where she tries to woo Picard in her honor?
As for the sports salary thing, it’s shit like that that makes me want to boycot the whole stupid industry. It’s a sham that anyone should be allowed to make that much money for something so unimportant.
