Wow, not the response I was expecting, though totally understandable. Me? I can’t wait to try it.

I’ll go to San Francisco with you and pose as your boyfriend if that’s what you’re getting at.

That’s something else, really. I won’t go experimenting, but I’ll keep it in mind if the opportunity arises.

Well, I mean, when was the last time you had to wait at a restaurant. Hell, ever try to go to PF Chang’s on a weekend? I don’t go very often, but sometimes you’ve got a group of friends and you just wanna go get some food. If I find myself in a situation where we want to get in somewhere and there’s an hour or so wait, absolutely I’ll give it a shot.

I’m actually quite surprised that you didn’t have the same exact response. I’m not sure how anyone could be anything but digusted at learning that it is commonplace for businesses to outwardly lie to people who are going out of their way to spend their money with them. It’s shameful, and I refuse to take part (not that I can really afford to be tossing around $50s anyway).

This is a bad example for my case. A friend of mine happens to be the son of P.F. Chang’s CEO. That sure does come in handy when he’s in town.

John, you could totally pull this off. I’d be a nervous nelly and probably give the guy a paper cut with my carefully folded tip.

I only hate the system when I’m not the one abusing it.

yeah but those hosts and hostesses aren’t schooled in tipping. my 20 year old friend laura is a hostess at pf chang’s and she’d be like “uhh duhhh” if you handed her a $20 bill. i think this would only work in a fancy place. pf chang’s=not fancy

Jay, are you just learning now that businesses outwardly lie to people? They also decide how to treat you based solely on your looks before the bribe even comes out. I think that should be more disturbing.

I do think it would be harder to do this at a place like PF Chang’s or any kind of chain because they have a corporate office to report to and receive complaints from. But if slipping the guy at Parc a $50 gets you seated faster, go for it.

this would probably work anywhere in Philly AND it would cost less that New York. i’d be so in.

on another note, it would also be INCREDIBLY easy to crash fancy parties at just about any of the decent hotels in the city. dress the part, arrive late through the side door, bam.

I was told the other day that handjobs are for poor people, so you can only use those at Applebees and Ground Round.

Wisdom

Can I tell you the truth? I mean this isn’t like TV news, is it?

Here’s what I think the truth is: We are all addicts of fossil fuels in a state of denial, about to face cold turkey.

And like so many addicts about to face cold turkey, our leaders are now committing violent crimes to get what little is left of what we’re hooked on.
