Does anyone here use Twitter?
I know Reggie does frequently, and I’ve seen about a tweet a month or so from Sammy and Bill. But anyone else? I ask because I’m considering integrating twitter into the Scrabbled, perhaps with a sidebar on the side of the page with everyone’s status. Would anyone be into that?

I signed up when you sent me the invite, but I’m not sure what the ultimate purpose of twitter is. It seems like the same thing as facebook status updates, but without all the other stuff. Is that right?
It’s pretty cool when you go beyond just updating your Twitter status on the website. I can do it from my iPhone, either using a text message or the Twitter application. It can also provide map coordinates to my current location. I can also make it update my Facebook status and my AOL Instant Messenger status.
I always forget twitter exists. Then I’m reminded when somebody brings it up; I update it here and there over the course of 2 days, and then forget it again. I don’t see it as being very useful, I guess.

Correct, except you can follow other twitters, many of which are famous. For example, I follow John Hodgeman, Ze Frank, and several Rails programmers who announce things I care about. I have the twitter facebook plugin that lets me update my facebook status via twitter so I only have to go to one place.
i think it’d be really weird to have a twitter thing. i don’t use it currently (probability of getting a smartphone thing soon is high, which increases possible twitter use; yes i hate myself) but i don’t think we need to know what everyone is doing at all times. unless we’re really likely to land ourselves in foreign prisons and need help getting out. pfah.
I agree with maggie, if I really wanted to know what someone is up to at a certain time I’d just call them. john, how many calls have you gotten from me in the past month?
I dont’ know of anyone who uses it for bullshit like “is eating breakfast!” and “didn’t get enough sleep last night!” and if I did I would stop following them. I find most tweets are a bit more interesting — little one-off thoughts and the like.
I don’t know how much the twitter stuff differs, but most of the facebook updates I receive are the “is eating breakfast” and “didn’t get enough sleep last night” variety.
Then again I’m old, so amongst the majority of my crowd those probably are legitimately exciting things to take note of.
Dagnabbit, back in my day all we had was HTML and we had to code it by hand. None of this fancy smancy twitter crap. I say you just do an animated GIF of an American flag on the sidebar and be done with it.
