This page is ridiculous:

They’re saying to vote no on prop 2 because outdoor access for animals increases the risk of disease.
While a ridiculous argument, from an effect on humans standpoint, its probably an incredibly small percent more viable argument.
Because animals in tiny cages no bigger than they are is hard to justify when economics are all the only real reason to support its practice.
Thats some nice spin, but what I was reffering to is that animals in tiny cages has no tangible effect on people, whereas I suppose there is some tiny chance that whatever those claims were could come true.
There is a much higher risk of disease when animals are densely packed in close quarters.
Disease for the animal, not for me. I for one, have never eaten chicken tartare.
I’m not saying it should be banned because disease is the issue. I’m saying if they’re going to make disease an issue as they’re trying to do on that website, there’s a higher risk of disease when kept in cramped conditions.
I’m saying it should be banned because I’d like to see the meat industry move towards more ethical practices.
And I’m saying that if they were refferring to disease for humans, they are correct. But I had a feeling this was headed towards the ethics again.
How the hell could it not be? Imagine we stuck you in a cage a little bigger than you for the duration of your life.
And imagined you shit out a baby each day.

Of course it’s about ethics. I don’t think anyone is trying to say otherwise. Sure, there’s plenty of other reasons why factory farming should be stopped, but ethics is the primary reason.

On this I beg to differ. While you probably could use some fattening up, I’m sure you’d make for some excellent lean bacon, considering how close our physical make-up is to that of a pig.
In my opinion, ethics on this issue are too subjective and varying within the population for there to be actual government regulation. If you don’t like it, just don’t eat it. And even if I am delicious, I recall reading an article somewhere that humans are chock full of toxins and chemicals, to the extent that if the FDA regulated cannibalism, we would be declared unsafe.
I’m trying to look it up, and I’m finding tons of things related to, but not the specific thing I saw.
I did, however, inadvertantly stumble upon a few medical websites giving serious advice on cannibalism.
