I don’t really care about Travis Barker or DJ AM one way or another but the more I hear about this story the sadder it is. Apparently one of the dude’s in their entourage (Barker’s bodyguard or manager or something) needed to get home because his wife was going into labor, so they all chartered this plane so they could get him home quicker and go with him. He was one of the ones who died.

Jesus, Kev. I liked it better when I just though that blink-182 asshole broke his arm or something.

O.K. never mind, turns out that’s not true. Several dude’s still died, and the one guy who died did have a 2 year old son so it’s still a bummer. But slightly less so.

I can’t say I’ve ever liked a Blink 182 song, but Barker is still a damn good drummer and I’ve always liked that he seems a fuck of a lot more passionate about the actual craft of drumming than most famous musicians seem to be about their instruments nowadays. And since one of my biggest fears since I was young has always been suffering some kind of injury that prevented me from playing and enjoying music, I can sympathize (or is this empathize?) with the suckiness of being faced with that.

I was hanging out with Lauran on Friday night and she said that she thought Travis Barker joined Blink 182 because she heard that their original drummer died. (That was untrue, as refuted by Wikipedia, a trusted news source)

And then only a couple hours later, Travis Barker himself almost died. BLAME LAURAN.
