ah, you beat my post by 8 minutes….

i havent read the book and didnt really care about this originally, but it does seem to show how snyder is growing really fast as a talented director.

this is supposed to run before the dark knight. this and the terminator 4 trailer, which surprisingly doesnt look that bad.

While I’ve also enjoyed watching the progression of the degenerative disease that affects Zach Snyder’s perception of linear time, I’m not too thrilled by the idea of a movie that takes place entirely in slow motion.

Trailer was pretty mediocre.

The Watchmen is just one book now? I thought it was a series of 12. Either way, the combination of this trailer and the small spoiler-free Wikipedia blurb makes me very interested in reading it.

I didn’t know the same guy directed 300 as did the Dawn of the Dead remake. The DOTD remake is one of my favorite horror movies of the past 5-10 years. I never saw 300 and have absolutely no desire to. Watchmen looks good though even though I know next to nothing about the comic/graphic novel/whatever.

Kev, the 300 was entertaining, but that’s about it. It was actually really silly. But it accessed the same part of my brain that says “wow” during certain video game cut scenes. So I think you need that part of your brain to enjoy it.

As for the Watchmen, the plot couldn’t be any cooler. Basically imagine a very realistic 1960’s America but where Superheroes are real. They help us win Vietnam and Nixon is re-elected. Eventually the people begin to fear vigilante justice (hence the subtitle, “Who watches the Watchmen”) and Superheroes are outlawed. Some retire, some go underground, some set up companies to market their identity to kids. Then the plot of this book happens.

Hmmm…that’s a pretty good summation of why I like the Dawn of the Dead remake so maybe I’ll check it out.

visually 300 is great, but its a really thin plot stretched over 90 minutes, so its really a collection of cool action scenes. you can turn the brain on cruise control for it. worth checking out once, but i doubt id ever own it.
