ganja queen
i was bored on saturday night
so my friend tara and i decided to watch a movie. when we came across “ganja queen,” we naturally picked that one. after reading about it, we were even more intrigued.
the movie followed a young woman named schapelle corby, who was going on holiday with her family to bali. her sister’s husband’s family is from there.
well, she was apprehended by customs in indonesia at the airport because 10 pounds of marijuana were found to be in her boogie board bag, and the lock was broken. they accused her of smuggling fromo bali to brisbane. she was detained and the documentary is absolutely heartbreaking and real. i can’t believe how real it was.
i won’t tell you what happened. a wiki search will tell you but if you can on-demand it tonite, i highly suggest it. it was phenomenal. i can’t believe how she was treated.

nooooo no no no.
when she got her back back, the lock was broken on it. she hadn’t even been near her bags. like i mean, they were on the plane then at claim.
her story versus and indonesian airport/government’s story is so different and it’s clearly obvious that this was an inside job.
the girl is heaving, crying, fainting, getting sick – there is NO way she is faking.
There’s a show like this on A&E or discovery called “Locked Up Abroad.” It’s generally about people being busted for trying to smuggle drugs out of foreign countries, but sometimes they document militant kidnappings/hostage situations. I found it interesting as a motherfucker the few times I caught it, therefore I am intrigued by this film.

sammy, i don’t quite get how you could NOT like it. meaning that it wasn’t a documentary a la michael moore. it didn’t take a stand or a side. it was a straight news piece. it made me think i was watching 20/20 or something, but without broadcasters waxing poetic on whatever hot story is that week.

I don’t know. I don’t have to like things that are the news. I didn’t watch it, but I didn’t believe her, either. How do you not notice your boogie board bag got ten pounds heavier, or, how do you not notice there’s a ten pound bulge of marijuana in your boogie board bag?
