John is so torn right now....

The guy from the Dirty Projectors says John Mayer is better than Radiohead:

Quote: I noticed how similar these albums [Radiohead’s In Rainbows and John Mayer’s Continuum] were during a bout of insomnia in Portugal. It’s something about the late Bush years — these songs are for the last Bush summer. The titles of the albums make me think of an axis or spectrum. Maybe they’re about possibility. And the lyrics! Radiohead’s lexicon is all about bureaucrats telling you you can’t succeed. And really, Mayer says the same thing, but with more ambiguity and it’s better.

Talk about an musical dillema for John. On one hand he loves Radiohead. On the other hand he admits that the beauty of John Mayer’s lyrics bring him to tears (It’s true! I saw it in the quotes section of the scrabbled).

I really don’t like the Dirty Projectors but I have to say after reading this I like the cut of this guys jib.

DAUGHTERS IS A GREAT SONG SHUT UP.

Also, I know Mayer is a huge Kid A/Amnesiac fan. He actually does a pretty spot-on acoustic cover of Kid A (the song, that is. not the album). I’m actually kind of curious to listen to this Continuum album now and see what this dude is talking about.

Also, for the record, the Dirty Projectors are pretty crappy.

I really gave DP’s “Rise Above” album a try but it was totally unlistenable.

About The Scrabbled

The Scrabbled is a group of people blogging about and linking to all manner of things. Usually we argue and make fun of each other. Everybody knows everybody through somebody so there are no strangers here. Most of us have even met in real life! If you happen to personally know someone here and would like to start arguing with and/or making fun of someone, shoot John an email and ask to sign up. Otherwise, you're just going to have to read in relative silence. Sorry.
