Did anyone notice

that the Flyers traded RJ Umberger? As much as I hate to see him go, it looks like Holmgren landed a nice return for a 3rd line player.

Yeah I was a little surprised to see them trade him away myself, but I’ve been hearing great things about this draft class so I can imagine it’ll work out in the end.

I did! ha ha

It’s been a busy weekend so I haven’t really been able to talk about it, but I think this could be very positive. All news was they weren’t going to be able to get a deal done with Umberger that would allow them to afford Carter and Jones as well as have some room to bring in a free agent.

Another key was being able to draft Luca Sbisa while trading their other first round pick for Steve Eminger. While Sbisa is probably 2 years away, Eminger could blossom into a great player or at the very least be very effective for the next 2-3 years.

It’ll be interesting if we hear any news about Derian Hatcher which is key to the resigning of Jason Smith, or how much is available to go after the FA market.
