Chicago?
so as a way to celebrate our simultaneous graduation, rachel and i are heading out to chicago for a few days next week. assuming i already have the food aspect of the trip covered (and i’ve already been to wrigley field), does anybody have any fun suggestions for things to see/do while we are there?

my friend jason lives there. i was there with a buddy one night, and he was telling us about all of the really cool things he could show us if we were there longer, like old speakeasies and stuff!
i don’t know his email, but if you’re interested in some local tips, he responds via myspace in a timely manner – http://www.myspace.com/loneshine.
>Ride the fabulous mass transit system.

That place doesn’t exactly seem like somewhere to go to get the authentic Chicago experience, but given my recently acquired obsession with all things Trappist, it would definitely be on my short list of places to visit if I was heading to Chi-town anytime soon.
I’m pretty sure there is a famous burger/hotdog(?) joint somewhere on the south side where the staff curses you out too. People seem to be into that kinda stuff.

thanks mandy… i may contact him
it’s either the tasting which is 12 courses or the tour which is 24 courses. i know he doesn’t like to keep dishes around too long so i’m assuming it’s no longer on the menu.
speaking of grant achatz, did you read the story about him that was in the new yorker a few weeks ago. the cancer was WAY worse than i thought. he still hasn’t gotten back all of his sense of taste (and maybe never will)
hot dogs at HOT DOUG’S!
chardonnay-infused rattlesnake sausage
