My New Favorite Food Site

The Paupered Chef does a few things very well: long form, super-detailed, at-home food “adventures,” simple recipes perfected, and obsessive nigh-OCD ruminatinos on something as ordinary as American Cheese. It’s great and I love it and I will be reading it every day from now on. You should, too. Maybe we can make something crazy.

I’m going to cook way more come September when I’m living on my own. Consider this bookmarked!

That egg & cheese burger looks like a great way to start the day. Did you see this comment:

As a teen I worked in a small swiss cheese factory, we turned out 8 to 10 tons per day (16 to 20 ~1000 lb cheeses). Our rejects were sold to an American cheese factory. I haven’t eaten the stuff since.

i would venture to say that john hasn’t thought kindly of eating american cheese for years…until now.

Untrue! American cheese is my preferred grilled cheese and hamburger cheese. Gosia can verify. She snubs her nose at my cheese choices.

Wisdom

The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum – even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.

About The Scrabbled

The Scrabbled is a group of people blogging about and linking to all manner of things. Usually we argue and make fun of each other. Everybody knows everybody through somebody so there are no strangers here. Most of us have even met in real life! If you happen to personally know someone here and would like to start arguing with and/or making fun of someone, shoot John an email and ask to sign up. Otherwise, you're just going to have to read in relative silence. Sorry.
