Joint Chiefs of the Armed Forces use the D-word
Draft. To paraphrase, he basically says the military is overstretched, overused, and breaking apart at the seems and if we don’t roll back the war efforts, there is no other choice but to enact the draft.
It is, at that point, that I will unquestionably pack up my things and move. Not in the “if Bush wins I’m leaving!” sense but in the “I can’t live in a country with an involuntary draft” sense.

There will be no draft as long as we’re in Iraq because the minute it becomes a reality, that 30% of the chickenhawks who insist that Iraq is SOOOOOOO important and “World War 3” and “The first front in the war on terror” will guaranfuckinteed change their tune if their confronted with the concept of actually having to back that up with ANYTHING resembling self sacrifice beyond typing a bunch of platitudes on a computer screen. Most of them get in a hissy fit at the concept of their taxes going up even an inch to pay for the war, does anyone honestly think they’re going to be in favor of actually fighting it?
