Baby's First European Trip

Tonight, I embark on my first trip outside the country!

We (girlfriend Jessica, buddy Kurt and myself) arrive in London, England tomorrow at 9:00am. I have many places mapped out to visit. Some include: Tate Modern, Primrose Hill, Piccadilly Circus, Westminster Abbey, Temple Church.

Friday night is something really special…

We will be in attendance of The Zombies 40th Anniversary Odessey & Oracle concert at Shepherds Bush Empire.

Early Sunday morning we take a plane hop over to Amsterdam. Scenic bike rides, Van Gogh and Rembrandt Museuems, Anne Frank’s house, etc. await us there.

Then we’re back in London for Tuesday night to Wednesday before our evening flight home.

If anyone has any suggestions, I am indeed accepting them.

MECCA BINGO

Luke and I played at Mecca Bingo a few years ago. We’re still trying to remember why it was called that, and how the rules were different.

The Tate Modern is really awesome. I also liked the London Transport Museum, but that’s just because I am a nerd about trains.

I called that number once. He goes to bed early. I called at 8:30. His wife said he was in bed, I didn’t really want to sell my trains that I didn’t have, so it was more out of curiosity.

Why are you going to Piccadilly Circus? I don’t understand what there is to see there.

Well, if a foreigner was visiting New York, would you tell him/her not to see Times Square?

I understand that it will take mere minutes to “take it all in” at Piccadilly Circus. But I couldn’t possibly skip it, it’s just so fun to say!

Don’t be disappointed. You should take in the British Museum. You may also want to go the Imperial War Museum (if you like history). The Science Museum is also worth the trip.

not sure i’d compare Piccadilly Circus to Times Square, but i was kidding. rod probably wasn’t. we think we’re experts, you see, and we are wrong. however if alix pops by here she may have some decent input since she lives there.

I’ve heard from a quite a few people to worry about pickpockets. So you’ve strengthened that warning moreso.

Stay out late drinking at a pub, and on the way home stop at a chippy. It was fun in Ireland, and they’re pretty much the same country.

I heard the pubs close at 11pm. I’m intrigued by this “chippy” thing though.

Yeah, but if you’re inside, they don’t kick you out. At least not where I was, which wasn’t London.
And a chippy is one of those greasy little storefronts that sells delicious drunk food, except its all fish and chips. Delicious fish and chips.

chippies also sell curry and some do chinese food.

pubs are also now allowed to be open 24 hours in the UK, however it’s entirely up to the landlord/lady.

oh am i too late? oh well, if you read this, go to the V & A. its pretty awesome. don’t go to picadilly circus. not worth it. you wont get pickpocketed. you’ll just get really annoyed. if you want to drink, go to old street or soho. if you want to exchange money without a charge for it. go to a post office. no charge. hmmm. try to go on the london eye as well. if you were a chick, id say come to my ‘hen night’ (bachelorette party) saturday. but you can’t. have fun.
